The Believing for Bryleigh Foundation is set up to support a wide range of needs for children with leukodystrophies and for non-profit agencies supporting children with leukodystrophies, but we do have certain guidelines in place to help ensure that our funding is appropriately used, and that it is granted in accordance with Federal laws governing foundation giving. So, if you are considering a submission to The Believing for Bryleigh Foundation, please consider the following guidelines.

  • The Foundation awards grants to individuals that qualify as well as organizations that are exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation will not award grants to for-profit organizations.

  • In keeping with the Foundation's mission, grants are primarily awarded to families that have a child diagnosed with a leukodystrophy that are facing financial hardships in caring for that child.  Funding provided to individuals that qualify will be used to directly meet specific needs within their family such as food, shelter, medical equipment, nursing care and medical bills.

  • The Foundation's Board of Directors meets throughout the year and will consider grant requests as they are received.

  • The Foundation typically awards an individual or an agency only one grant per year. Grant recipients must re-apply each year.

To be considered for a grant as an individual/family, the following information is required when applying:

  • Name and age of the family member diagnosed with leukodsytrophy

  • Date of leukodystrophy diagnosis

  • Current living address of family

  • Financial hardship family is facing as a result of their family member leukodystrophy diagnosis

  • The amount requested from the Foundation

  • Date funding is needed

Individuals/Families that receive funding from the Believing for Bryleigh Foundation will be asked to give the Foundation an update on their well-being and how the funds received from the Foundation have helped their current situation.

To be considered for a grant as a non-profit agency, the following information is required when applying:

  • The organization's purpose and history. (Provide a website if available.)

  • Proof of 501(c)(3) status.

  • The nature and extent of the problem you plan to address.

  • How the proposed effort relates to the Foundation's program goals.

  • Program objectives.

  • Timeline of proposed activities.

  • Estimated cost for the project and overall budget.

  • The amount requested from the Foundation.

  • Percentage of the amount requested to the program's total budget.

  • If the grant will be matched, provide the details, including the deadline.

  • Name, address, phone number, and e-mail address (if available) of the primary person to contact within your organization should we have questions.

It's important to keep the information concise as the Foundation receives numerous requests. Please do not send unnecessary materials or examples of past work (articles, reports, videos, or other materials). These items will be requested, if needed.
